ARTIST BIO
About Claudia Artiga
Claudia is a Salvadoran born designer and artist, based in North Vancouver, BC. Her principal medium is painting with acrylics, although she also includes drawing, watercolour and mixed media experimentation in her practice. Most recently, Claudia participated as a visual artist in Virginia Duivenvoorden's Dance and Art Show IMGX, which was streamed live from the Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver in April 2021. Growing up in El Salvador, Claudia felt deeply connected to her surroundings: the ocean and the local flora and fauna, thus her expression often focuses on colour, texture and movement. She has studied drawing, illustration and painting at the prestigious Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver and abstract painting and mixed media at the Greenwich campus of the London South East Colleges in the UK. Claudia is currently studying Interior Design at the British Columbia institute of Technology, and she continues to be inspired by the beauty of the Pacific North West Coast where she currently resides with her husband, children and her Havanese pup named Romeo.
