Installation Art
The world during COVID is a place full of contradictions: We are present in absence through online communication and we show that we care by staying away. How we reconcile these contradictions was the theme behind the IMGX Gallery Installation. I chose tulle because it's a weighless fabric which doesn't add volume when it lays flat. I wanted to contrast these inherent qualities of tulle against what it can become when it’s manipulated. I created a structure that had volume and looked sculptural. The fabric was not laid out in a symmetrical way but I wanted the room to have an overall sense of balance and symmetry. I had limited resources to construct this piece, and I didn't purchase additional materials because I wanted to work with a sense of constraint and the experience of “making do” with what is at hand to come through in my process.
